Chelsea star Oscar enjoys Twitter World Cup surge

Chelsea midfielder Oscar has become a Twitter sensation during the World Cup.

The London Evening Standard says Oscar has seen the number of his Twitter followers increase by 428 per cent since the World Cup began - the greatest percentage growth of any player at the tournament.

Oscar has been one of the best performers in a slightly underwhelming Brazil team, scoring one goal and assisting two more.

And despite his Brazilian team-mate Neymar stealing the vast majority of the spotlight, Oscar has seen a huge increase in the number of followers of his Twitter account - 428 per cent.

It puts him top of the list when it comes to percentage follower growth out of all the Premier League footballers at the tournament.
