Charlton academy director Avory proud of England pair Gomez, Konsa

Charlton academy director Steve Avory is proud of where his former youth stars have reached.

Avory will be looking at England's upcoming friendly against Belgium with some excitement.

Both Joe Gomez of Liverpool and Ezri Konsa of Aston Villa, formerly of Charlton, are likely to start the game.

“I'm going tonight", Avory told The Standard.

“I don't know if either will start, but it will be great to see them play against Belgium, particularly if they can both be on the pitch at the same time.

“You pinch yourself, really. Those two lads have come through the levels to the highest level possible.

“It also celebrates many of the people who worked with those two players when they were at the academy.

“I know Joe and Ezri pay their due respects to every member of the Charlton academy staff who worked with them."
