Celtic's Majstorovic undergoes surgery ahead of six-week absence

Celtic defender Daniel Majstorovic is likely to be sidelined for around six weeks after undergoing surgery for a serious facial injury.

The Swedish stopper sustained a fractured cheekbone in the weekend's 2-0 win at St Johnstone and will now have to rest and recuperate prior to a February return.

"Daniel Majstorovic underwent surgery yesterday, on the fractured cheekbone he suffered in the 2-0 win against St Johnstone on Sunday," read a club statement.

"The operation went well, but he now faces six weeks on the sidelines before he can return to training."
