Celtic boss Rodgers looking forward to reunion with ex-Liverpool player Sterling

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is looking forward to renewing acquaintances with his former Liverpool player Raheem Sterling in the Champions League.

Sterling is likely to start for Manchester City at Celtic Park on Wednesday night, and Rodgers says he has enjoyed watching the player's career develop since giving him his debut when he was 17.

"I've been so proud to watch him," Rodgers said. "He's a great boy to work with and it's been great to see him grow from 17 years old as a player and as a person. He's really shown that with focus, he's a top-class player. He was brilliant for me. I'm looking forward to seeing him, but hopefully he doesn't play that well."
