Cardiff defender Caulker targets England call

Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker is pushing to break into the England squad.

Later this week, Roy Hodgson will name his squad for two crunch World Cup qualifiers next month - and Cardiff's £8million buy would love to be part of them.

Caulker said: "To be part of the England squad is always the aim, especially in a World Cup year.

"We all strive to get into that squad. But we have a lot of good players in my position and Roy Hodgson can only pick four centre-halves.

"I am competing with the best in England but all I can do is keep working, stay focused and if that call comes, then great.

"The City game is a massive opportunity as everyone is watching. It's a real test for us. For me, City have had the most dangerous attack in the league over the past two seasons.

"They have so many options to choose from, they are a fantastic side.

"The key is not to show them too much respect."
