Southampton have secured Calum Chambers to a new deal.

The Daily Mail says Chambers has signed a new four-year contract at Southampton after being told he will be in the first team squad next season.

Saints were prepared to spend around £6m on a right-back to put pressure on Nathaniel Clyne next season.

But Chambers has made such rapid progress in pre-season he will be promoted to the first team as Clyne's understudy next season.
