Wigan Athletic skipper Gary Caldwell says they deserved their shock win at Liverpool.

The win extends Wigan's recent impressive run to only one defeat in seven matches.

"We've been playing like that for weeks and not really got our rewards, but finally we got three points that we richly deserved," he told the Wigan Observer.

"But we just mentioned it in the dressing room that back-to-back wins are so important, and that we need to back this up against Stoke at home next week.

"This was a big result - but it loses a lot of its significance if we can't build on it. We've had great wins before and then let ourselves down, and we can't afford to let that happen again.

"So the hard work starts again on Monday. We need to retain this focus and turn in another performance like this one."
