Brighton midfielder Jakub Moder backed referee Michael Salisbury's decision not to give him a red card.
The midfielder was the subject of a VAR check by Craig Pawson after a challenge on Neco Williams.
Nottingham Forest were furious at the decision, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo stating his team were being victimized.
Post-game, Moder said: “I watched it back – and my friend sent it to me!
“I think the referee knows better than me if it is a yellow or a red. He decided it is a yellow so I believe him and it's good for me.
“I watched it back and I can see I touched the ball first, then I hit his ankle."
He added: “It is always a little bit of a worry when you see on the screen that the VAR is checking for a serious foul. I was a little bit worried but luckily it is just a yellow."
