Brighton defender Duffy reveals how Ireland can beat Denmark

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy has explained how the Republic of Ireland can see off Denmark in the World Cup qualification playoffs.

Ireland put in a resolute defensive performance at Parken Stadium to claim a 0-0 draw against Denmark in the first leg of the World Cup qualification playoffs on Sunday night and ahead of the return fixture, Duffy has stated that another top rearguard display is required from his side to see off the Danes at the Aviva Stadium.

Duffy said: "It doesn't matter what it looks like or how we get through as long as we do. In the first leg, it was scruffy, a little bit ugly. Maybe we could have put our foot on the ball more.

"It's not an excuse but the pitch wasn't great and you could see even some of their technical players were struggling. The ball was bobbling so it was a tough night for both teams. But you've got to give us credit for the clean sheet against a side who had beaten Poland 4-0."
