Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is backing their move for Manchester City attacker Leroy Sane.

Sane is expected to join Bayern this summer, with the German giants attempting to settle on a fee with City.

"Leroy is a great footballer," Boateng told Welt am Sonntag.

"Thanks to his qualities, he would be able to take Bavaria to a new level."

City chief Txiki Begiristain is insisting on €80m to sell the midfielder, who still has a year to run on his contract.

It's understood Bayern and Sane have an agreement over a five-year deal.
