Blackburn rival QPR for Aston Villa assistant manager Michael Beale

Interest in Aston Villa assistant manager Michael Beale is ramping up.

The Sun says Blackburn Rovers are keen on making a move for Beale this summer, joining Queens Park Rangers in the race for the Villa man.

Beale is favourite to take over at Loftus Road this summer after the exit of Mark Warburton at the end of his contract. It is claimed that the Hoops have made an official approach to Villa in order to seek permission to talk to the coach.

QPR aren't the first Championship club to make an approach to the Villa man, with Blackburn also making their interest known. Rovers are on the search for a new head coach after the expiry of Tony Mowbray's contract this summer.
