Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has described Phil Jones as a 'natural'.
The central defender, 18, successfully made the transition to holding midfielder during last weekend's 1-0 win over Everton.
And he is set to keep filling the gap at Birmingham today.
Allardyce said: "I didn't have to prepare him much for playing in midfield. If you're a natural, you're a natural.
"We talk about the coaching side with great importance but some people just naturally have the ability.
"He's a natural - he senses where he should be and what the situation is around him.
"For a young man, he makes more right decisions than some experienced players. Moving him into midfield was a big ask but he commanded that position with quality."
