Released by Hamburg, the midfielder is in talks with Blackburn Rovers, says Fussball Transfers.

Still only 28, Holtby is clear to sign for Rovers outside the transfer windows.

Besiktas made an attempt for the midfielder over the summer.

A move to Blackburn will be Holtby's third English club after Tottenham and Fulham.

The youngster, who joined Wolves at the age of 16 following time at Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End, rose through the ranks at Molineux to make his first-team debut last season.

Head of Academy Scott Sellars told the Wolves website: We're pleased to have tied a talented young player down to the club as we can now give Elliot more time with us to develop his game.

Elliot is still young, he's only 19-year-old and is still developing, but we've been very pleased with what he had shown throughout the time he has been with us at the Academy.

The next step for Elliot will be taking that move away from the club on loan to gain league experience, which we feel will be really beneficial to him in the future.

For a lot of the young players we have here at Wolves, the aim is to get them out on loan so they can gain this experience, however, the most important thing is that the player is tied down to the club, so they can go out on loan and work hard away from Wolves, while knowing their future is safe and secure.

Now everything is settled with Elliot, he can move forwards with his development and focus on football and his learning, and we look forward to his progression."

May became a member of United's '99 Treble winning squad.

He recalled to manutd.com: "Blackburn played Norwich away and Mark Robins, who was playing for Norwich, told me afterwards that United were there watching me. I spoke to [United scout] Les Kershaw after the game, he was asking me about my contract situation and, because nothing was happening with Blackburn, he asked me how I felt about joining United.

"It was totally out of the blue, even though I'd been playing well for Blackburn, but that was enough for me. My mind was made up and even if Blackburn had come back and offered me the same money that Alan Shearer was on, I'd still have joined United. When the move to United went through, I was so proud. I was joining the biggest club in the world, they'd just won the Premier League and the FA Cup and I wanted to join a team that was going to go on and win things.

"That's all I ever wanted to do and I did that. I never for one minute regretted leaving Blackburn."

Morrison produced a man of the match display in their 2-1 win against Blackburn in the Carabao Cup.

He's not a million miles off. I knew what I was going to get with Ravel today," Wilder said.

He's a bit of a free spirit at times and we have to work hard on the sidelines to nail him down at times from a shape point of view and out of possession.

But I think you've seen what he gives you in possession. We want him to play further forward at times, because when he does he goes into overdrive and speeds the game up. He's got genuine quality to hurt."

Rovers had an early penalty saved at Bramall Lane before Richard Stearman put the hosts ahead.

Oliver Norwood then doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Blackburn substitute Sam Gallagher then got his side back in the game but it was all too late as the Premier League club held on at home.

Speaking after the game, Blades boss Chris Wilder said: "I take the blame for a disjointed performance because when you do make than many changes it's not really the players to blame.

"We were also up against a very talented side that move the ball about very well. You get games like that when you don't really have a rhythm about you.

"But we had to make the changes because everyone recognises that without doubt the bigger issue is Chelsea (in the Premier League) on Saturday."

Wilder confirmed he would make changes to his side which lost to Leicester City last weekend.

"We'll whizz the team around on Tuesday," said Wilder, whose side travel to Chelsea this weekend.

"There'll be changes. It's important that those players not in the team at the moment get minutes.

"It's a different aspect of management, to keep those boys ready and prepared to go in.

"We expect to go well in the cup, whatever team we put out, but it'll give an opportunity for the likes of Rav, and a few others, to produce a performance."

Morrison will feature for Sheffield United when they take on Blackburn in the Carabao Cup next week having failed to make the matchday squad for either of their opening two Premier League games of the season.

We talk about picking the side and it's a difficult selection process for myself and picking the subs as well," Wilder said.

Unfortunately Rav never made it. There's competition to get onto the bench as well and we have to have that.

Rav has a big part to play. He's ready, like the others, he's played games in pre-season. There's obviously a cup game to go at next week against Blackburn Rovers. We will utilise all the squad in that game."

The Sun says Leeds missed out on key target Kent after only offering 5m in instalments to his club Liverpool.

The winger who Rangers want to take on loan again is valued at twice as much by the Kop.

Liverpool's high valuation on Kent, 22, after a good season in Glasgow also put off Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Blackburn.

The 20-year-old is leaving to get first team experience at the League One side.

Magloire was a part of the under-23 side at Blackburn last term, winning the Lancashire FA Senior Cup in the process.

The rapid defender recently committed his long-term future to the club.

Rochdale will be hoping that Magloire can go straight into their team and improve their back line, which leaked two goals in a 3-2 win at Tranmere Rovers last weekend.
