Blackburn boosted as Roberts targets return this month

Blackburn striker Jason Roberts is currently recovering from a stress fracture to his foot he suffered in the win over Tottenham on April 4. It was feared Roberts could be ruled out for the rest of the season, but now he is suggesting a return before the end of the season.

"I certainly believe this won't be the end of my season. I will keep working hard with the medical staff and try and get myself right," Roberts told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"I was diagnosed between two to four weeks but it is pretty vague. It depends how the bone reacts to the stress we put it through and as soon as we are ready I will be out there.

"I have had a scan and we just take it from there. I don't think there are any more scans, so as soon as it can take the stress of me running about I will do that.

"For me I just want to get back as soon as possible. There is no point in predicting when, I wish I could.

"But it is far too vague with the kind of injury it is, it is not about saying keep off it for two weeks and then you can play, it is all about how it feels. So in three weeks' time if it has not healed that is just the way it is. It is a tough one."
