Bayern Munich to build soccer school in China

Bayern Munich have agreed a major partnership with the Sino-German Ecopark Qingdao, an experimental sustainable city development on the east coast of China, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The agreement will see the Bundesliga side build a soccer school and education centre on the site, which is scheduled for completion in 2018.

Bayern will commit to regular coaching exchanges with the soccer school, as well as to financial support of youth development in the area.

"We want to be actively involved and make a contribution to the development of soccer in China," said Jörg Wacker, Bayern's head of internationalisation and strategy.

"This strengthens the presence of the Bayern brand in China, and is yet another important component of our international strategy."

Qingdao, the city behind the sustainability project, has been named an official 'football city' by the Chinese government, and is tasked with working alongside European clubs and associations to grow the sport in the country.
