AVB not planning winter spend-up at Tottenham

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas says he has no plans to buy new players in the January transfer window.

Spurs were held to a 0-0 draw by Stoke City on Saturday which saw them drop to sixth on the table but Villas-Boas is not about to get carried away and chase the likes of Joao Moutinho, Loic Remy and Willian who have all been linked with the club recently.

"I don't think we need to do anything," said Villas-Boas.

"We have Clint (Dempsey) out. He is a massive player for us. He has had a big impact. He scored 17 goals last season so we have to count on him.

"He plays striker, plays wings and plays through the middle so he gives us that option.

"(Andros) Townsend the other day had a good game. Today we had opted for (Gylfi) Sigurdsson coming in but I think we have options."
