Atletico Madrid signing Vitolo has rejected claims of betrayal from former club Sevilla.

After agreeing a new deal with Sevilla on Monday, Vitolo quit for Atletico the following day. He will play on-loan with Las Palmas to January.

Vitolo said at his presentation: "It has been a very hard 48 hours for me, and especially for my family, who are the ones who suffer for me.

"I was very close to renewing for Sevilla, but some details were missing that were not clear and Atletico continued betting and fighting for me, and the project that was presented was very good for me. Now I am in the team of my homeland.

"I do not have to say openly the conversations I have with football people. I was close to renewing for Sevilla, but some details were missing and Atletico bet hard for me, they suggested many things that for me were good both sportingly and financially, and in the end I made this decision. It may be wrong or right, but in life you have to take them.

"I cannot hide that people are very p***ed at me, but this is football. I change address, but I will always be grateful to the club, its people and players."
