Gabi has announced he's leaving Al Sadd.

The long-time Atletico Madrid midfielder signed for Xavi's Al Sadd last year with the aim of replacing the Barcelona icon after he'd hung up his boots.

Gabi has now stated online that he is leaving the Qataris when his contract expires at the end of this month.

"I want to communicate that I will not continue in Al Sadd from June 30. I want to thank all the workers, colleagues, coaches and fans for how they have treated me during these two years in which they have become my family," he posted.

"I wish you all the best in the future."

Gabi is being tipped to return to Atletico in a coaching capacity.
