Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez says the current Spain team must make their own history.

Asked about the current Spain team compared to that of Xavi and Andres Iniesta, Saul explained that the previous generation is tough to match.

"If we compare then we come out losing," he said when the question was put to him at a press conference on Saturday evening.

"That generation is unrepeatable, for what they did and for how they did it.

"People were proud of them until they stopped winning.

"We work for this and for people to be proud of their national team.

"The style is something that the players define and I like that there are demands made of us.

"There is a lot of potential and I want people to demand the best of me."
