Atletico Madrid GM Gil Marin: Saudi Pro League has distorted summer market

Atletico Madrid GM Miguel Angel Gil Marin admits the Saudi Pro League has "distorted" the summer market.

Gil Marin also admits they're in the market for a new midfielder.

He said: "It is currently true that the Premier League and the new market in Saudi Arabia distort the reality of the market and this makes our management difficult. Soccer is evolving as an attractive sector for large investors, and this is proven by the investment in the purchase of clubs by American investment funds, as well as sovereign wealth funds from Middle Eastern countries.

"Even now, countries like Saudi Arabia do not see enough to invest in European clubs, but have decided to strengthen their domestic league by hiring great players and coaches. This country does not have our taxation in the payment of players, nor economic control by its League, which has created an environment that is really difficult to decipher in the short term, due to the uncertainty and doubts that they create in the players who always seek to ensure their future and that of their families.

"I think we have a good team. This team, improved with the additions in defense that we have made, will compete with everyone, as it has been doing for many years. Our idea is to hire a midfielder who reinforces this area of the pitch."
