Atletico Madrid fullback Santiago Arias was delighted to feature in victory over Real Sociedad.

A midweek demolition at the hands of Borussia Dortmund couldn't keep Atletico Madrid down for long as Diego Simeone's side bounced back with a comfortable 2-0 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday evening.

"It's important for my confidence to keep adding minutes," Arias said after the game.

"But victory is the important thing and it allows us to keep moving forward."

Atleti now climb to the top of the LaLiga Santander table, at least temporarily, with Barcelona hosting Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon, but Arias played down their current position.

"It doesn't mean anything," he insisted.

"We're only thinking about ourselves and must continue to win points and matches.

"Whatever happens in other teams' matches, what matters is our own work."
