Los Rojiblancos haven't lost at home in Europe in two years and Trippier understands why.
"When we went 2-0 down, we knew we'd get opportunities," he told The Guardian.
"We kept on going and going and the crowd were fantastic as well.
"I've never experienced anything like it."
The summer signing went on to discuss the Atleti mentality in more detail.
"It shows great mentality to pull it back against a fantastic team," he said.
"Since I came here, the mentality of the group, the coaching staff and Diego Simeone, it's immense.
"In training it's 100 miles an hour.
"It's never stop and we do the exact same in games."
