Atalanta coach Gasperini left pleased with manner of victory over Sassuolo

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was left delighted after their 2-1 win against Sassuolo.

Mario Pasalic and Ademola Lookman struck for La Dea after Giorgos Kyriakopoulos had volleyed Sassuolo ahead.

Gasperini said, “It's satisfying for the whole team and a position in the table that after 10 rounds is a great credit to the lads. We didn't start at our best, albeit well-organised, but we are now improving in terms of our style of football. There is a great deal of enthusiasm and we hope to stay up there for as long as possible.

"Undoubtedly, it has been better than we expected. We also had several very young players on the field today and are very satisfied to see that.

“At the start of the season, we didn't know what kind of a campaign we would have, if we aimed to win or just get 40 points to secure safety. We don't have any particular dreams right now.

“Once we face certain teams, we can have a better idea of how competitive we are. We've already played Milan, Udinese, Roma, next we'll have Lazio, Napoli, Inter, so these are the games that give you an idea of how competitive you are.

“We will play our part this season, but it'll take a long time before we can tell how far we can go."
