Aston Villa have made a move for Angers midfielder Baptiste Santamaria.

L'Equipe says Villa have tabled a €7m bid for the defensive midfielder.

However, Angers have rejected the offer, insisting it falls well short of their valuation.

Santamaria, 24, is tied to Angers until 2022 and has been with the Ligue 1 outfit for three years.

Villa are expected to try again in the coming days.
