Aston Villa have been given a Philippe Coutinho transfer demand from Barcelona.

The Catalan giants do want to sell Coutinho, who is on loan at Villa for the second half of this season.

However, Catalan outlet Sport claims that Villa have until the end of this month to decide if they want to sign Coutinho permanently.

Manager Steven Gerrard is happy with his ex-Liverpool teammate, but the transfer fee and wages may prove a problem for Villa.

Coutinho had seven goal contributions in his first eight games, but has managed none in the past six for Villa.

Reports have also suggested that Barca do not believe Villa will pay £33 million to secure Coutinho.
