Arsenal midfielder Wilshere thrilled as England keep clean sheet

Jack Wilshere was clearly pleased after England played out a 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Sunday.

The Three Lions extended their unbeaten streak to nine matches since last summer's World Cup in Brazil but the most important thing was not to concede according to Arsenal midfielder Wilshere who started before being replaced by Ross Barkley on 66 minutes.

"That's what we have to take from today," said Wilshere. "I don't think we were at our best but again we didn't lose and we kept a clean sheet.

"In international football that's massive. If you can keep a clean sheet, with the players we've got going forward, we will create opportunities."

England will now prepare for their Euro2016 qualifier against Slovenia in Ljubljana next Sunday.
