Anwar El Ghazi hails Aston Villa fans

Aston Villa midfielder Anwar El Ghazi is full of praise for local Villan fans.

Speaking to the Ajax podcast about his former club and his current club, El Ghazi - who will always be held in high regard by Villa supporters for his play-off final exploits in 2019 - explains how he noticed a stark difference between football fans in his native Netherlands and in England upon arriving at Villa Park in 2018.

El Ghazi, who has six goals to his name this season and who enjoyed a particularly fruitful festive period, used an example of when he goes out to eat - Villa fans might want a photo or an autograph, but they'd wait until the appropriate time.

“In England, it's a little bit less because they have more respect for you," he told the Ajax podcast.

“If they come to you they are not like 'El Ghazi! El Ghazi!' It's like they come to you quietly. 'Can I have a picture?' Sometimes when I am at a restaurant, they let me eat first before they come to me."
