Anderlecht signing Kasper Schmeichel admits he had offers to move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

The former Leicester City captain left Nice for Anderlecht last week.

He revealed to TV2: "Yes. But after the first question itwas just: 'No, unfortunately that's not possible'. They offered a salary. The salary was good, but as I said, I don't play football for that, I play football for nights like this (Denmark played against San Marino last night).

"When you get a little older, you appreciate these evenings more. As our dear Lars Høgh always said: 'There are numbers for everything', and I carry that with me every time I play an international match. I never, ever take it for granted. Of course, that was a big part of my thinking."
