Ajax chief Mislintat happy beating West Ham for Borges

Ajax sporting director Sven Mislintat says Carlos Borges made the correct choice for his career.

The former Manchester City youngster rejected West Ham United to sign for Ajax this summer.

Having secured the Portuguese forward for a fee of around £17 million, Mislintat spoke about the Dutch giants' ability to develop young talent.

“We had a lot of competition to sign Borges, it was close with other clubs, especially one club from the Premier League," said sporting director Mislintat.

“But we could enter the race and Borges immediately understood who we are, what we stand for and what's possible here."

West Ham have seen their summer window crash and burn on several occasions, as they have been unable to secure the players manager David Moyes is seeking.
