Crystal Palace owners are bankrolling a huge deal to bring Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew back to Selhurst Park. The Daily Star says Pardew is set to sign a £2.5m-a-year, four-year deal at Selhurst Park and will be handed a £10m transfer kitty for the January window.
That will see Pardew - one of the lowest paid managers in the Premier League on a heavily-incentivised deal at St James's Park - earn a pay rise of at least £1m-a-year.
The third-bottom Eagles are on the brink of landing their no.1 choice to replace Neil Warnock after persuading Newcastle owner Mike Ashley to let Pardew leave for a cut-price £2.5m.
The 53-year-old had a £5m compensation clause in his Newcastle deal which still had five-and-a-half years to run.
