Wolves could be set for a shock managerial appointment on the eve of the new Premier League season.
The top flight club are said to have held talks with Gary O'Neil about replacing Julen Lopetegui.
The Spaniard wants to leave Wolves given the club's lack of transfer investment this summer.
Lopetegui is unhappy at the way he has lost first team players, with few replacements signed.
Per The Mirror, former Bournemouth boss O'Neil is seen as a contingency plan at this stage.
The club held three hour talks with the young coach, as they do not want to be unprepared should Lopetegui walk away.
