West Brom skipper Brunt hails Shorey commitment in Liverpool win

West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt hailed Nicky Shorey's commitment for victory over Liverpool.

Shorey, rock-solid throughout, ensured Roy Hodgson's men took all three points by heading the ball off the goalline - taking an accidental boot from Jonas Olsson in the process!

Brunt reckons it is those kinds of moments which are keeping the former Reading defender in the starting line-up ahead of Marek Cech.

"I don't know where Nicky came from to make that clearance!" Brunt told the WBA website.

"He came from nowhere to head it. When Suarez took the touch, everybody expected him to smash it but he showed that bit of quality to lift it over Scott. If he had scored we would have had to say 'fair play' because it was great skill.

"But Nicky read the situation well and hooked it off the line. He has been superb since he came back into the side - and Marek had been playing well until he got injured.

"It just shows how well Nicky has done that he has kept Marek out.

"I think everybody put a great shift in on Saturday."
