West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has welcomed the signing of Pablo Ibanez.

Olsson has no qualms competing for a first team place with the former Atletico Madrid centre-half.

He told the Express & Star: "They bought a Spaniard and he is so clearly a great signing. It is always good to have competition.

"Competition raises everyone because you have to fight for your place. But I feel I have a strong role on the team. I was vice-captain this year and played almost all the games.

"I feel safe in that role."
