West Brom boss blasts Hibs over Murphy price

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has hit out at Hibs over their price for fullback David Murphy.

Mowbray brought the 23-year-old to Easter Road on a free transfer from Middlesbrough three years ago.

But it appears he will not be reunited with the player at The Hawthorns.

Mowbray told the Scotsman: "I had one discussion six weeks ago. I was quoted a ridiculously high price for a player who cost nothing. It finished there."

Murphy, under contract until 2010, has been a big hit in the Scottish Premier League and is hugely popular with Hibs fans.
