Scorers: Bris - Sergio van Dijk 10’
Well - Chris Greenacre 85’
Venue: Suncorp Stadium
On a sweltering day for the players, the contest begun fairly evenly with both sides having equal possession until the 10th minute when Roar’s Charlie Miller flicked a ball through to Henrique who squared it up for striker Sergio van Dijk.
The Dutchman finished well from close range to give the home side the ascendency.
For a period in the first half, Wellington dominated possession but were unable to make use of their good play as the Roar held sway and went into the break a goal up.
Just before the hour-mark, Wellington’s Chris Greenacre almost got the visitors back on level terms when he missed an open header.
In the 73rd minute, Leo Bertos sent a dangerous ball into the area where Vince Lia directed his free header straight into the hands of Brisbane keeper Liam Reddy.
The Phoenix were pushing forward in the final fifteen minutes but it almost worked against them when Roar youngsters Tommy Oar and Robbie Kruse worked together down the left flank, sending an aerial ball in the direction of van Dijk but his efforts went unrewarded.
Wellington then managed an equaliser when Daniel supplied a perfect ball for Greenacre who slipped his opponent and headed home past Reddy in the 85th minute.
Brisbane were then reduced to ten men when Oar received his second yellow card in two minutes, which led to coach Frank Farina being sent to the stands for an over the top protest towards the referee.
The Roar were losing discipline late in the piece as Wellington pressed for a rare away win but they could not convert their chances and had to settle for a point.
