QPR boss Neil Warnock admits he tried to sign Craig Bellamy last week.
In the end, the former Manchester City attacker chose to return to Liverpool.
Warnock told talkSPORT: "I spoke to Craig Bellamy but he loves Liverpool and when Ngog went I knew that he'd be joining them.
"If I'm honest I was so pleased about this transfer window because it gave me a chance to sign these players.
"I quite like the idea of just doing away with the transfer window but really it helped me enormously because I had to do in ten days what I really should have been doing in 12 or 14 weeks."
