Waghorn wants Sunderland future settled

Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn wants to sort out his future this summer.

Waghorn has confirmed that, if he is not going to be playing at Sunderland next term, he would prefer to leave the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis rather than go out on loan.

"I couldn't tell you about my future," said Waghorn, who spent last season on-loan with Leicester City, in the Leicester Mercury. "I have been asked about it ever since I scored my very first goal. I don't know what is going to happen.

"I am going to go back to Sunderland for pre-season and work hard, and then see what happens and see what offers come in. I am going to play it by ear and work hard wherever I go.

"It has been great to know that your parent club's manager is looking out for you and to hear he has such high hopes for me is fantastic.

"I am not saying I won't come on loan again, but I want to settle down somewhere and get a regular spot.

"If it means going out on loan again, I would be a little bit disappointed. But, if I get a permanent move or stay at Sunderland, I just want to stay at one place and get my head down, and push on from there."
