Centre-half Vidic, who missed the first leg against Barcelona through illness, suffered a facial injury when taking a knee in the face as he battled with Didier Drogba. The Serbian international was stretchered off the Stamford Bridge pitch midway through the first half.
A four-man group comprising Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Michael Carrick and Wes Brown trained away for the rest of the squad at the beginning of the session.
