US Soccer president Sunil Gulati has admitted it was hard to get rid of USA national team manager Bob Bradley late last week.
Bradley's five-year reign as US boss ended when Gulati and US Soccer CEO Dan Flynn decided to end his tenure and the president admits it was not an easy decision to make whilst refraining from explaining the details of the reasons for the change.
"After the Gold Cup, we started to review the year and the five years," he said. "In the last 10 to fourteen days, we came to some conclusions, and that's Dan Flynn, our CEO, and I for the most part.
"I don't think I'm going to get into details on the meeting with Bob. These are always difficult situations.
"Bob has done a very good job with the national team and has been a good friend long before he was the national team coach and I was U.S. Soccer President, so those moments are difficult."
And as for Bradley's replacement, Jurgen Klinsmann, Gulati said it was a nice feeling to have a very experienced campaigner on board.
"With regards to Jurgen, it's a great thing to have someone who's been there, who's been on the winner's stand at the World Cup, and at the European Championship," he added.
"That's a unique situation. He's had a bronze medal as a coach at the World Cup. For us, that's a fantastic situation that he's played at the very highest level, coached at the very highest level with Bayern and with Germany, but to have actually tasted the success of winning the World Cup we think is a plus for sure."
