Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has jumped to the defence of Bayern Munich No1 Manuel Neuer.

Neuer is under huge pressure for club and country after a disappointing few months.

But Lloris told Sport1: "Judging all he has brought to Bayern Munich and Germany, this debate is not fair.

"It's not easy if you have not played football for almost a year (Neuer was injured most of last season), he is still at an excellent level, he is an excellent goalkeeper.

"For me, he is simply the best. The level of Manuel Neuer is not in doubt. He is such a fantastic player, he will prove it again in the future."
