Tottenham eyeing Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic

Tottenham are eyeing Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic.

The former Manchester City defender seems to have lost his place in the side, with Mario Hermoso the preferred choice, and Jose Mourinho could offer first team football in North London to try and tempt him away, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Spurs are in the market for reinforcements at the back with Jan Vertonghen expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of June.

They will have to make an attractive offer to tempt Atletico into selling the 29-year-old, however, with boss Simeone believed to be eager to keep Savic around beyond this season.

A deal could be reached if the Premier League side offer a fee in the region of £17million and if the defender is not offered regular first-team football next season.
