Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat says he could stay if he is convinced by their transfer plans.
Advocaat is only contracted to the end of this season.
He said: "I have my own personal situation to consider, but beside that, it is also very important to know what the club wants.
"This squad needs five or six good players.
"It doesn't need quantity, it needs quality.
"That is what is important, and it is the only way to change things."
