Sunderland legend Gabbiadini impressed by Jones

Sunderland striker legend Marco Gabbiadini admits he's been impressed by Kenwyne Jones this season.

Gabbiadini tasted promotion with the Black Cats back in 1990 and fired in 92 strikes for Sunderland during his four-year love affair with the Wearside public, and has tipped Jones to have a similar impact.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "He hasn't been around too long but you can tell he is a quality player.

"Kenwyne has such an unusual style but for me he has a nice touch and can score goals, which he has already done.

"It's great to see him running at defenders, and the fans like him too.

"For me they will always need a centre-forward to get them excited.

"Over the years there has always been somebody like that around.

"We've had Kevin Phillips, Niall Quinn and in my time the likes of Eric Gates.

"It's good to see him holding his own in the Premier League and that is what Roy Keane will be looking for too."
