Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits he considered signing Bristol City goalkeeper David James in August.

Bruce almost went for James when Craig Gordon fractured his arm, but chose to go with summer arrival Simon Mignolet.

He revealed: "When Craig got injured, I thought long and hard about putting him in and we had a look at David James."
