Souness backs ex-Man Utd boss Moyes for Scotland job

Graeme Souness has backed former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes to become the new manager of the Scotland national team.

Scotland are currently without a manager after they parted ways with Gordan Strachan following their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and the search for a replacement is already underway.

Moyes has been without a job since parting ways with Sunderland at the end of last season following a disastrous spell in charge of the Black Cats. Though Souness ruled himself out of the running, he backed Moyes to be appointed.

"I know he has had a difficult time in his last job, but he is Scottish and he understands the Scottish mentality and I think you will agree we are quite different," said Souness.

"I don't think the game's changed too much, he is Scottish, knowledgeable.

"Even when it doesn't go well for you, you are still learning things in football."He has had difficult times in his last job, but I'm sure he's richer for the experience."
