Sampdoria president Marco Lanna admits they can't afford to buy in January.

Samp are struggling at the wrong end of the table and the hiring of coach Deja Stankovic has made little difference.

However, Lanna is standing by Stankovic and trying to figure out what they can do in the winter market.

“We will try to do something in January, but we have many limitations and that is no secret," Lanna told Il Secolo XIX newspaper.

“As things stand right now, we couldn't afford to buy a single player."
