Sampdoria president Marco Lanna has explained appointing Dejan Stankovic as new coach.

Stankovic makes his home debut tonight against Roma.

Lanna said: "He's Mou's (Jose Mourinho) pupil, in fact. Well, we needed someone like this: communicative, gritty, leader.

Stankovic won the Treble with Mourinho at Inter Milan.
