Sampdoria are in talks with striker Simone Zaza about a new deal.

Zaza has been linked with AC Milan.

"There has never been direct contact with Milan," Cristian Maifredi told Ita Sport Press. "Zaza has a contract at Sampdoria and we're dealing with them right now.

"There is a negotiation in place regarding a renewal, but I don't think we'll be seeing the white smoke any time soon.

"It's only normal that in renewal talks there is a difference between salary demand and salary offer, but let us see whether that gap will reduce.

"Only if Sampdoria decide to sell will I look for other solutions."
