Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is being blamed for their failure to beat Manchester United to the signing of Paul Pogba.
Yesterday Pogba revisited last summer's then world record move from Juventus, insisting Real had also made an offer at the time.
The Frenchman declared he chose United after deciding to "follow my heart".
However, Don Balon says Real withdrew their offer ahead of Pogba signing for United due to demands made by Ronaldo.
It's claimed the Portuguese pushed president Florentino Perez not to sign the midfielder over concerns regarding his attitude and ego.
However, there is also a belief Ronaldo was worried about Pogba's status as a future Ballon d'Or contender. Ronaldo has always been insistent that he needs the Real team to be built and be playing for him - and him alone.
