Boca Juniors sports chief Juan Roman Riquelme has again spoken of how close they came from signing Edinson Cavani.
Cavani spoke with Riquelme ahead of signing a new deal with Manchester United last summer.
"Cavani called me in January," Riquelme recalled to TNT Sports.
"He told me he wanted to come to Boca because he was playing little in Manchester. We talked for a day, then the next day he went on the pitch and scored two goals, reversing the game.
"That moment he started scoring in bursts and United decided to renew his contract."
